Kimbi G. Marenakos (Dr. Kimbi) is a Family Nurse Practitioner, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Instructor in MUSC's Accelerated BSN program. She teaches Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, and supervises the Mental Health Scholars clinical rotation wherein a select group of students provide integrative care to men, women, and children in the on-site medical clinic at Charleston's homeless shelter. Kimbi was a psychotherapist in private practice for over a decade before she returned to academia to pursue FNP credentials. The clinical competencies of nursing enable her to provide more holistic care to her patients. Kimbi has joined the CPA team to help develop the practice model for behavioral health services within the pediatric primary medical home.
Dr. Kimbi is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Psychiatric Nurses Association, National Board of Certified Counselors, Gold Humanism Honors Society, and Sigma Theta Tau International.
Of all the hats Kimbi wears, her favorite by far is being Finn's mom. She and her son love to sail and travel and just hang out with their border collie (Moxie) and tuxedo cat (Percy Jackson).
